Description

Through photography I want to explore ‘How our subconscious mind affects the way we dream’. I have always been mesmerised by how bizarre my dreams are, and I love listening to other people’s dreams because it fascinates me how everyone’s dreams are completely different and how our brain can function these magical movies in our head. I want to explore the science behind why we dream and analyse dreams and discover what different dreams mean. I will do this by recording mine and my friends dreams and analyse them using a dream dictionary. I will also look at the works of Sigmund Freud and read his book, ‘The interpretations of Dreams’. In his book he states, “On my way to discovering the solution of the dream all kinds of things were revealed which I was unwilling to admit even to myself.” I think this quote is really inspiring as I am hoping in the journey of learning about dreams that it will take me on a path of discovering new ideas that will broaden my knowledge and take more in-depth photographs. A few years ago, I tried to write an essay on how the subconscious affects the way we dream however I struggled to finish it. However now, I think I have gained the ability to research and take stronger photographs in order to complete this project. I will also visit the Freud Museum in London and attend the talks to learn more about dreams.
